From Approval to Allocation: Bringing Private Markets onto Wealth Platforms

Demand for private-market investments continues to grow across the Canadian wealth channel, but getting a strategy approved—and successfully adopted—is a complex process. This panel will bring together leaders from Canadian investment dealers to discuss product due diligence, Know Your Product and suitability requirements, operational integration, valuation and reporting, liquidity expectations, advisor education and client communication. The discussion will examine what makes a private-market offering scalable, why some products stall during review, and how managers can become stronger long-term partners to dealers and advisors.

Private Markets at Scale: Deployment, Liquidity and the Next Return Cycle

Large private-market platforms are navigating a markedly different environment for deployment, financing, realizations and investor liquidity. Bringing together perspectives from direct lending, portfolio finance and diversified private capital, this panel will examine where scaled managers are finding compelling opportunities and how underwriting standards are evolving. The speakers will discuss portfolio-company fundamentals, private credit, secondary and liquidity solutions, co-investments, value creation, exit pathways and the changing expectations that institutional LPs bring to their GP relationships.

Essential Assets: Investing in Healthcare, Farmland and Critical Industrial Capacity

Some investment opportunities are supported not simply by economic growth, but by services and assets that society cannot function without. This panel will examine healthcare infrastructure and services, Canadian farmland and agriculture, and critical industrial, aerospace and national-security capabilities. The speakers will discuss the secular forces supporting these sectors, including demographic change, food security, supply-chain resilience and geopolitical priorities, while also addressing regulation, capital intensity, operational execution, valuation, liquidity and the role these investments can play in a diversified private-markets portfolio.

Building a Multi-Manager Private Markets Program

Creating a durable private-markets portfolio requires far more than selecting several well-known funds. This panel will compare how institutional and family-wealth investors establish strategic allocations, pace commitments and build diversified portfolios across private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real estate. The speakers will discuss manager sourcing and due diligence, vintage and geographic diversification, portfolio concentration, fee management, liquidity forecasting, monitoring, reporting and governance. They will also explore when funds, co-investments, secondaries and direct investments should be used together—and when added complexity may not justify the expected return.

Inside the SFO Portfolio: How Families Are Investing in Private Markets Now

Single-family offices can invest with greater flexibility and longer time horizons than many institutions, but they must also manage concentration, governance, liquidity and the influence of the family’s operating-business experience. This candid closing panel will explore how family offices divide capital among private funds, direct investments, co-investments, real assets and venture opportunities. The speakers will discuss how decisions are made, what earns a manager a long-term relationship, when families prefer to invest directly, how they assess alignment and risk, and how investment priorities evolve as wealth passes to the next generation.
