Formerly, he was co-founder and vice chairman of GSC Group, managing director of The Blackstone Group, where he founded the firm’s business in Hong Kong, and a vice president of Goldman Sachs. He is a member of the Board of Directors of FGL Holdings and Graf Industrial Corp., and the Advisory Board of WaveFront Global Asset Management. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a China Fellow at the Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies, and a B.A. from Brown University.

From 2009 – 2011 Patrick was a professional football player with the NFL and CFL during which time he won two Grey Cup Championships and remains an active member of the NFL Alumni Association.  Patrick received a B. Comm. (Finance) from the University of Alberta.
