Mr. O’Hara is a senior investment executive with deep alternative investments expertise, including in the areas of due diligence, manager selection, portfolio construction and risk management. He has over 30 years of investment experience in Europe and North America and has worked in the retail, private wealth, and institutional investment markets. Prior to Obsiido, Mr. O’Hara held CIO positions at Cygnus Investment Partners and XFO Private Asset Solutions where he managed private market fund-of-fund portfolios for high-net-worth investors. Mr. O’Hara is the lead portfolio manager for the Obsiido Funds and the Chair of the Obsiido Investment Committee. Mr. O’Hara holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations.

Tony advises on tax issues affecting various types of investment funds, such as domestic and offshore hedge funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, pooled funds, private equity funds and other alternative funds. His clients include fund managers, securities dealers, portfolio managers, custodians and other participants of the asset management industry. He has experience with fund formation, registered plans, ongoing tax compliance, and the taxation of derivative trading strategies.

Tony frequently provides advice to financial institutions on their account holder obligations under the Common Reporting Standard and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. His experience includes helping financial institutions develop compliance programs and representing them in enforcement procedures.

He also represents taxpayers in their disputes with taxation authorities, such as the Canada Revenue Agency and the Ontario Ministry of Finance.

Tony is an active member of various industry associations, including the Securities and Investment Management Association (formerly the Investment Funds Institute of Canada), the Canadian ETF Association and the Portfolio Management Association of Canada. On behalf of those organizations, he has participated in various submissions on behalf of the asset management industry to the Department of Finance (Canada) regarding tax law changes that impact the industry.

Daniel Leger

Mr. Leger is responsible for managing all of MGG’s sales and marketing related efforts.

Prior to joining MGG, Mr. Leger was Head of Strategic Planning and Client Services at Akre Capital Management in Virginia where he helped grow the then 24 year old firm’s private partnership and mutual fund assets from $2 billion in 2013 to approximately $14 billion in 2019. Previously, he worked as Managing Director, Head of Marketing at Geosphere Capital, a $1.4 billion hedge fund based in New York City. Prior to that, he worked in a similar capacity at Steel Partners, a $5 billion global activist manager. Mr. Leger began his career in asset management at BRI Partners, a venture capital firm and joint venture with Mesirow Financial, that seeded hedge funds, helping grow their collective assets to in excess of $5 billion.

Mr. Leger received his doctorate in political philosophy and international relations from The University of Notre Dame in Indiana and his BA from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
