CAASA invites you to explore the prized wines of Tuscany through a virtual tasting with our in-house sommelier, Mackenzie Putici. Dive into the deductive tasting method used by sommeliers during this interactive session. We’ll also keep the conversation going with a short talk by Keith Black on the latest risks and opportunities in the crypto space followed by what we like to call “quick answers to uncomfortable questions” such as, should a prop trader at a pension be paid the same as one that does manager selection? (Answers will be anonymous). Don’t miss this one!

Tuscany is known to be one of the world’s most loved centres of wine and gastronomy. Dive into centuries of history while tasting Chianti Classico, based on the Sangiovese grape which has been cultivated in the region since pre-Roman times. Taste how ancient techniques have informed the region’s modern expression. Then taste Italy’s answer to Bordeaux and Napa – the Super Tuscan. This bold blend of international grape varieties was pioneered in the 1970s to compete with new player on the international market. Now some of Italy’s most famous producers are from this category.
We’ll deliver two private collection bottles and an extra surprise beverage right to your door. Otherwise, feel free to BYOB as the session is open to all CAC 2021 delegates.

Keith Black

Managing Director – Program Director, Financial Data Professional (FDP) Institute
Keith Black has over thirty years of financial market experience, serving approximately half of that time as an academic and half as a trader and consultant to institutional investors. He currently serves as Managing Director, Program Director FDP Charter at the FDP Institute.
During his most recent role as Managing Director, Content Strategy at CAIA was responsible for Curriculum development. Previous to that Keith was a valued team member at Ennis Knupp + Associates, Keith advised foundations, endowments and pension funds on their asset allocation and manager selection strategies in hedge funds, commodities, and managed futures. Other experiences include commodities derivatives trading, stock options research and Cboe floor trading, and building quantitative stock selection models for mutual funds and hedge funds. Dr. Black previously served as an assistant professor and senior lecturer at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Keith has contributed to the CFA Digest, and has published in The Journal of Wealth Management, The Journal of Trading, The Journal of Investing, and The Journal of Alternative Investments, among others. He is the author of the book “Managing a Hedge Fund,” as well as co-author of the second, third, and fourth editions of the CAIA Level I and Level II curriculum. Dr. Black was named to the Institutional Investor magazine’s list of “Rising Stars of Hedge Funds” in 2010.
Dr. Black earned a BA from Whittier College, an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, and a PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and was a member of the inaugural class of both CAIA and FDP members.

A benchmark expression that is ruby red in colour with the subtle garnet inflections that is oft seen from aging fine wines. Red fruit dominates with a bouquet that is laced with notes of leather, earth, and tea. A balanced wine that is enjoyable on its own, but also incredibly food friendly.

This blend of international varieties is deeper in colour, fuller in body, and more bold and tannic on the palate. However coming from 2015 the wine has had time to integrate and is drinking nicely now. Dark fruit, Mediterranean herbs, bramble and oak spice bring a depth and complexity to this wine.
