Founded in February 2018, CAASA is a fast-growing trade association created to represent Canadian alternative investment managers, investors, and service providers across Canada and globally. We are looking to hire an associate to take on the key role of membership services and database maintenance. Overall position purpose: support membership and association growth by providing high quality support to members, executing all small to medium events and maintaining the company database and systems for optimal day-to-day operation.

 Job Requirements

Education, training, experience: Bachelor’s degree. Preference for degree in business, marketing, or related field. Desire 3-5 years of association or related experience in membership and marketing.

Knowledge Required: Association Management, Business Analysis, Marketing

Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Ability to communicate with and influence existing and potential members
  • Excellent writing, listening, speaking, and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to document and follow up in a timely manner
  • Ability to work with others and be a consensus builder
  • Ability to learn and understand industry terminology and regulation in the Canadian marketplace
  • Experience working with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, WordPress, and CRM databases
  • Experience working with survey tools and email campaign experience preferred

Principle Responsibilities: Work closely in a small team with an entrepreneurial environment and ability to think ahead. Consistently implement and apply the existing growth strategy and generate new ways to build and demonstrate value for members. Monitor and maintain existing systems to track membership records. Communicate regularly with the team to stay aware of new members and initiatives.

Location & Hours: Downtown office (core, direct PATH access).  Generally, 9am – 5pm with some evenings (as required for event staffing).  Some travel (1-2 times per year) may be necessary to support events in other cities (usually Montréal).

This role is a full-time, permanent position in a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Direct and coordinate small to medium marketing activities and events to promote association growth, brand recognition and membership networking/education.
• Evaluate the financial aspects of each event or activity including an overall budget, tracking of revenues and expenditures and profit-loss projections
• Use sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of marketing activities
• Plan and execute 40-50 small to medium events across Canada
• Analyze and monitor market events and trends
• Coordinate and participate in promotional activities, conferences and local events
• Assist in conducting member surveys to better identify the membership and event satisfaction

2. Attend and participate in the Member Initiative Groups/Committees as assigned.
• Coordinate all aspects of meetings (agendas, document preparation, minutes, etc.) and ongoing correspondence with committee members
• Provide assistance to chairs, as needed
• Assist chairs with development of events
• Establish and maintain committee goals and objectives in the Transitions & Procedures manual
• Ensure all policies, goals, and objectives relating to committees are managed in an appropriate, timely manner
• Manage committee projects and ensure progress throughout

3. Maintain membership and non-member database records and website.
• Maintain up to date contact information, participation and communication history
• Process new membership applications with updates to the database and membership directory
• Maintain and apply updates to the existing website and event pages as changes occur
• Process and track all event registrations
